Mission Statement
 
Our intent is to provide a fun, safe learning environment for children interested in golf, regardless of financial ability. Our program inspires children to enjoy this great game, while they learn social skills and values such as patience, courtesy, honesty and fairness.

 

 

 The First Tee of Contra Costa Life Skill Youth Golf Camps

 

Camps:  1. June 16-19; 2. June 23-26; 3. June 30-July 3; 4. July 7-10;
                           5. July 14-17; 6. July 21-24; 7. July 28-31; 8. Aug. 11-14; 9. Aug. 18-21

4 Days of Golf Instruction (Mon.-Thurs.), Sessions @ 8am-12pm; 9am-1pm;
Advanced Camp 10am-2pm (Par Level Participants Camps 1, 3, 5 & 7)  (Birdie/Eagle Level Participants Camps 2, 4, 6 & 8)

Kids will be accessed and placed in one of three skill levels

General Information
  • Sign up early, as each session is limited to the first 24 students.  Weekly camps will be offered, providing a minimum of 10 participants are enrolled.

  • Students can bring their own clubs or we will provide clubs for their use.  In most cases, an abbreviated set of clubs are all that is necessary.  New junior sets are available at a special purchase price for all camp students.

  • Timely drop-off and pick-up should be made in front of the Pro-Shop.

  • Participants should bring a light jacket, sunscreen, water bottle and a golf glove.

  • Lunch should be brought Monday-Wednesday. Lunch is provided Thursday for the camp participants.

  • Parents are encouraged to attend graduation on the last day of camp.

  • In the unlikely event that a camp is canceled, you will be notified to reschedule or a full refund will be provided.

  • Scholarships are available for your referred by area youth agencies or school districts that determine participants are unable to afford or have access to the game of golf.  Recipients must be residents of Contra Costa County. Scholarships are limited to funds available.

Eligibility
  • Boys and girls ages 8 to 18. Participants will be placed in groups according to their present skill level.  No current experience is necessary.

  • Advanced camp available to First Tee Participants that have completed a minimum of one 12-week session or two 4-day camp sessions of the First Tee Program (previous years accepted). 

Cost - $99 per student.

  • Lessons are provided by Diablo Creek Golf Course professional teaching staff. Over 50 years of teaching experience provides quality instruction on every aspect of the game. First day orientation and a typical day is as follows:

1st Day Orientation (parents or guardians are encouraged to attend - 30 min.)

  • Registration outside by the Pro Shop at Diablo Creek

  • Welcome Junior Golfers and Parents and introduction of Staff, Students, and Parents.

  • Define the purpose of the Life Skills Experience.

  • Explain the rules of safety, "staying cool', water stations and First Aid.

Typical Day
Includes 1/2 hr. lunch break & one 15 min. break

  • Equipment Check

  • "Ice Breaker" fun drill for students to relax and warm up.

  • Swing Fundamentals - review posture, grip, stance, movement of golf swing and balance.

  • Review rules of golf and golf etiquette.

  • Group practice - set up teams in practice stations go over chipping and putting, bunker play, course conduct, full swing.

  • Driving range practice or on-course play.

  • Life Skills Experience program, and lunch the last day for camp participants.

 

 

 

Junior Clinics


 

The First Tee at Diablo Creek Golf Course is a year-round youth program established to teach life skills and instill core values through the game of golf for boys and girls 8 through 18 years old.  Program consists of golf skills, games and challenges, life skills education, golf etiquette, and green fee discounts through the NCGA "Youth on Course" program at Diablo Creek Golf Course.
     Spring Session - February-May - $69/student
     Weekly Schedule: Tuesdays: 4-5:30pm - Teens Only Wednesdays: 4-5:30pm - 8-18 yr. olds
                                                   Thursdays: 4-5:30pm - 8-18 yr.olds     
                                                   Saturdays: 10-11:30am - 8-18 yr.olds

 

Pee-Wee Clinics

     Spring Session - February-May - $69/student       
     Weekly Schedule: Wednesdays: 4-5:00pm - 4-7 yr. olds Thursdays: 4-5:00pm - 4-7 yr.olds 
                                                   Saturdays: 10-11:00am - 4-7 yr.olds

East Bay Golf Foundation

The East Bay Golf Foundation is a youth charity program at Diablo Creek Golf Course.  Diablo Creek Golf Course has been approved to be the site for The First Tee of Contra Costa which is an initiative of the World Golf Foundation.
